International Checklist

Admission acceptance will be reviewed after the international application, tuition deposit, academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, financial resources verification form and bank letter are received.  Admission is for a specific semester only.  Issuance of a form I-20 will occur only after all admissions documents have been received and approved.

2 ) International Application for Admission

Please download the PDF. This form must be filled in digitally. Please enter all answers on the form. Print the form. Sign the form, scan it and send via e-mail to The International Application may not be completed online.

3 ) $1500 Tuition Deposit

The deposit will be applied toward the student's first semester enrollment.  If admittance is denied, the full deposit will be refunded.  The deposit may be paid by check drawn on U.S. funds made payable to Hutchinson Community College or by credit card by contacting the HCC Business Office at 620-665-3421.

4 ) Official Secondary and Post-Secondary Transcripts

Applicants must submit transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions.  Transcripts must document graduation from a secondary school or the equivalent.  Applicants who have attended high school in the U.S. must provide official documentation from their home country as well as from their U.S. institution.  Only original documents or certified copies are acceptable.  An officially translated, line by line, word for word English translation must accompany the original document when scores/results are listed in any language other than English.  International students wishing to transfer coursework from colleges or universities outside of the continental U.S. must first have the transcript evaluated by an official evaluation service. There is a fee for this service.

5 ) ESL/Intensive English Program

International students enrolled in an Intensive English Program must show a certificate of completion to be considered for transfer to HCC.

Document proficiency in English. A minimum score of 500 on the TOEFL paper-based test, 173 on the computer-based test, or 61 on the internet based test is required of all international student applicants whose primary language is not English.

6 ) Financial Resources Verification Form

Immigration regulations require non-immigrant international students to verify that they will have funds, in the amount of at least $12,250 USD, available to pay for the estimated cost of tuition, fees, books, insurance, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses for an academic year.  Support must be documented  using the HCC Financial Resources Verification Form.  The student and sponsor must complete the HCC Financial Resources Verification form and request the appropriate financial institution send a verification letter directly to HCC.  The completed form and bank letter must be received by the application deadline and approved before an I-20 will be issued.  Applicants may not rely on expectations of employment to supplement funds from home.

7 ) Tuberculosis Testing

International students must present the results of a tuberculosis skin test completed in the United States within the last twelve months, or be tested at a college approved clinic.  Test results must be reviewed within ten days of the start of the semester.

8 ) Documentation of a Comprehensive Health Insurance Policy *

The HutchCC Residence Halls provide a home away from home for approximately 420 students in two co-ed dormitories, Elland Hall and Kent Hall. Our dorm rooms are clean and spacious, with the latest in modern amenities.
